Vehicle tracking is not cheap and although the prices have come down considerably in recent years most companies still have to pay for a tracking system with some sort of credit or alternative payment scheme.

There are several payment options open you when you decide you would like to invest in tracking. Different telematics companies have different payment options available. So this is an important part of the buying cycle, working out which payment option is going to best suit you.

Business lease deals use to be the preferred favourite, but since the recession getting a lease deal on vehicle tracking systems is not so easy as lease companies have had their fingers burnt. Also lease deals require you to enter into long contracts which are now becoming less popular with businesses who feel they would prefer to have greater flexibility.

Therefore pay as you go tracking systems are becoming increasingly popular. This payment option is now becoming the favourite way of buying fleet tracking. The benefit of pay as you go is that you are only ever committed to about a three month contract. This means you can change to a different system at a later date and if the tracking company went bust you would not be left with a tracking system with no connection and an expensive monthly lease bill. The downside to pay as you go is that you pay a bit more for it in the long run. You can also buy your tracking system outright and some companies even offer rental schemes.
